GROK Bar was born in Portland, Oregon by myself, Bryan Capitano, and my wife in the spring of 2015. The idea came from a mash-up of our life passions. I've been an organic gardener and food enthusiast since I was kid. I got a Master's degree in Botany, and for many years grew most of my own vegetables. My wife, similarly, grew up with a small family farm, and we've both been passionate about eating as local as possible, and as close to nature as possible.
In the last 5 years, we adopted a grain-free, Paleo diet that significantly changed our health. Since then we've been looking for a natural, healthy snack, free of the garbage that most manufacturers use -- glucose syrups, weird fillers, and stabilizers. But we couldn't find one on store shelves!
Surprisingly, even the recent appearance of other so-called Paleo bars often have protein isolates, whey, and other "manufactured foods" that don't naturally occur in nature. This is ironic, considering the Paleo diet was intended to be a non-processed food diet.
So we decided to make our own bar!
GROK Bar is based on the purest concept of Paleo. Where our ancient ancestors foraged for local foods, and processed them only minimally, we also strive to use locally sourced, whole, and unprocessed foods.
When biting into a GROK bar for the first time, so many of our customers say "Wow! It tastes like real food!"

WHO IS GROK?!
GROK is our friendly caveman from days long ago, a symbol of our primal past. He ate local foods he foraged from the hills, valleys and forests of his region, and inspires us to do the same. This is the first Paleo energy bar to source mainly local ingredients from the Pacific Northwest.
